What is it?

VelaCure 3D decouples exposure geometry from lamp geometry. All UV rays come from diffuse reflections off the chamber walls.
  • Traditional UV curing works by using reflectors to direct light from a UV lamp to the part to be treated. Sometimes light conducting devices such a quartz fibers are also used to move the light. This type of reflection is referred to as specular reflection. To cure all sides of a 3D part, such as a cellphone case, multiple lamps and reflectors or part manipulation and multiple treatments are required. Achieving a uniform cure on all part surfaces is challenging.
  • VelaCure works by using integrating sphere technology instead of specular reflection. VelaCure chambers are lined with very high reflectance material that produces diffuse reflected light. This proprietary material is much more reflective than aluminum reflectors.
  • VelaCure chambers shield the part to be treated from direct light from the UV lamp, so that all the light striking the part is diffuse. Effectively, the VelaCure chamber walls become the light source that cures your part. Integrating sphere technology makes the irradiance from all chamber surfaces equal. This is how we achieve so uniform a cure on all part surfaces.
